Just days prior to the event, he suffered a leg injury during training, followed by a bout of food poisoning and dehydration—conditions that would typically force an athlete to withdraw from competition.

Defying these challenges, Kalsi chose to compete, demonstrating the core values of martial arts—discipline, perseverance, and mental strength. His performance culminated in a Gold Medal victory, where he overcame a strong competitor from the United States in the final round.

Reflecting on his performance, Kalsi stated, “I was not fully satisfied with how I performed, but I am grateful for the result. For me, the real victory was stepping onto the mat despite everything.”
