SEED, DocOnline, and CitiusTech Drive Digital Health Program in Slums of Bangalore, Hyderabad

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], March 29: As part of their CSR, CitiusTech, a global leader in healthcare technology solutions, have collaborated with NGO SEED in implementing a transformative health program for residents of 12 slums in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Amongst other things, the program provides assisted teleconsultation services powered by DocOnline, a leading digital healthcare provider.

The initiative is bridging the healthcare gap in underserved communities by offering accessible, high-quality medical services. Over 1,000 healthcare workers have been trained to provide essential healthcare support to slum residents. The assisted teleconsultation model is enabling individuals to access online consultations with certified doctors, cutting down on the costs and time associated with doctor visits, travel, and waiting.

The program is addressing key health aspects, including hygiene education to prevent infectious diseases, nutrition guidance for child development, and women’s health focusing on maternal care, menstrual hygiene, and family planning. Additionally, it is raising awareness on preventing seasonal diseases like dengue and malaria, ensuring communities are equipped with knowledge to improve overall health and wellbeing, particularly in underserved areas.

To ensure sustainable healthcare delivery, the program will empower local women to become health entrepreneurs, providing online consultations and other health services within their communities, fostering self-reliance, and strengthening healthcare accessibility in underserved neighbourhoods.

Dr. Romira Roy, Chairperson at SEED, said, “SEED believes that health education is key to preventing and treating communicable diseases. By equipping communities with knowledge of hygiene, vaccination, early disease detection, and preventive measures, we can reduce disease transmission, promote healthier lifestyles, and ultimately improve overall health outcomes. The partnership is committed to empowering frontline health workers to facilitate telemedicine services, provide consultations, medications, and diagnostic support to underserved communities, and raise awareness on key health topics through targeted educational materials.”

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Manasije Mishra, Managing Director of DocOnline, said, “This partnership aligns with our mission, ‘trusted healthcare for the many.’ We are excited to work with CitiusTech and SEED to deliver comprehensive healthcare to slum communities, enabling better health outcomes with the help of technology and trained healthcare professionals.

Ably supported by CSR resources of CitiusTech, this initiative ensures that local communities, SEED and DocOnline work hand in hand to improve public health, promote economic empowerment, and make healthcare more inclusive, especially for vulnerable populations.
